RimLighter

This tool mainly relies on your Normals and Point passes, but it can also take advantage of your actual 3D cameras for true 100% light placement accuracy.

It’s also really cool because it uses actual 3D lights. No edge detection cheats here! You can choose between either a Directional, Spot, or Point light. And each have their own advantages, so play around with all of them when you first start to get used to this tool. You can even have multiple lights that you can mix and match.

The UI gives you masking and old school Edge Light (aka edge detection) options.

However as powerful as this tool is, and I can’t stress this enough, it’s no substitute for actual 3D lights in your render! So  try and get your look in beauty first before relying on any relighting tools in Nuke. This tool isn’t meant to act as a crutch, but rather just something cool to know that’s there when you’re in a pinch and can’t get the look you want any other way. For either time or technical reasons.
