The official ‘Speed Racer’ trailer went online today, and I must say…it looks pretty damn cool.
There’s not much online about the visual effects though, but there is a little info over at Empire Online about how they’re taking the Sin City and 300 approach. Shooting everything on greenscreen with some set pieces.

And I don’t know about you…but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they keep the original theme song.

UPDATE:
Just had a client meeting and sure enough…they were talking about “Speed Racer”. More specifically the new full focus camera that the Wachowski bros. developed for the film. Now what does a full focus camera do you ask? Well read that article below if you want to know all the details, but basically it uses 2 focal planes to capture everything in focus at once. Just like a cartoon. The results look really cool, and after this client meeting I now have a sneaking suspicion that we’ll be getting requests for the “Speed Racer” look
