road kill and bullfighting

Nights shoots are exhausting, and my internal clock is just completely messed up. But we’re getting some great stuff, so it’s worth it. I got a chance to see some of the dailies the other day during “lunch.” and they were really good. The reason I say “lunch” is because it was at 1am. I swear sometimes I think movies should just have there own time zones. Anyway’s, we met some more of the crew and heard some crazy stories…for example…

The other day was the dead dog scene and I got to talking to the sculptor. He’s a really nice guy, and you can tell he knows what he’s doing. The dog he made just looked insane. So realistic and gory, it just made me smile. “How did you learn how to do this man?” “Well I dissect allot of animals to see how they’re made. Medical kits mostly, but every now and then I’ll just pick up some road kill and call up some friends. But you have to watch out for Armadillos” After a nervous laugh I asked, “Why’s that?” “Well, you know…Leporsy.” At that time I was glad I didn’t shake his hand hello.

But it doesn’t end there folks. Apparently our 2nd A.D. used to fight Bulls. That’s right, Bulls. He even got gorged, and now has a huge scar on his stomach. “Did you stop after that?” “Oh no, I just have a bad knee.” Now that’s just crazy, I want a cool bull fighting scar! The most I have is a tiny scar under my chin from driving a motocross bike off a bridge. Why can’t I get a cool scar from like a knife with some Soccer hooligans in a Irish Pub? It just isn’t fair, ha.

It’s a motley crew to say the least, but those kind of people really make the nights go by quicker. Especially when everyone is still so nice. I love listening to those kind of stories. We’re have a dailies party tonight, so if I hear some more gems I’ll be sure to pass them along. Anyway’s, that’s it for now…I’ll keep you all posted. Why do I have a craving to watch “Harold and Kumar Go to Whitecastle”?
