Well after leaving at 4am for the airport this morning, I’m finally home…and exhausted. It was a great break though. We got to celebrate Jess’s 21st, go to the Lord of the Rings exhibit, smoke a couple very nice cigars, and do a short film that my buddy Andrew Marcec directed. He’s busy editing it as we speak, and it’s a continuation/remake of the short we made right before we went off to college. All and all It’s not all that different from the original, but now we actually know what we’re doing. Ha.

Over the break I also got to write the script for the short I’m going to be doing for my Lighting and Field and my Studio 1 class. It’s called “Zombies…and YOU!” and it’s a black and white 1940′s Government sponsered PSA about…you guessed it…zombies. I’m storyboarding it all out right now and I’m already really proud of it. Jess is also doing the concept art and zombie make-up, which we’ll later go on to augment digitally. We’re also going to be digitally degrading it, and adding some digital barrell bursts, and digital squibs. It’s exactly what I need to cleanse my palette, so to speak, from all of the very obvious visual effects I’ve been doing for ‘Golden Goodbye.’ It’s just going to be so nice to do something more subtle. That’s kind of a no no here at SCAD, but I really don’t care anymore. They’re always pushing you to do some BIG completely cgi sequence, rather than doing what visual effects actually are suppossed to be for. Aiding the story. I think alot of the teachers here have lost that focus. With a small group of exceptions of course. But that is mostly the case. Which is too bad.

Anyways, that’s about it for now. I’m now going to go crash on the futon, and pop in a movie. Oh and stay tuned viewers, because in the coming month of January I’m going to be posting alot of progress on the ‘Golden Goodbye’ page. Currently we’re done with the first ship, most of the rocky ridge, the first forest, and we’re now moving on to finishing up the second forest, and then…on to the witches hut. So alot is going to be coming, and it’s going to be coming soon.
