The third season of “Heroes” premiered last night after a very long hiatus. And I noticed something that bugged me during the character Suresh’s story. It was almost identical, shot for shot, to Cronenberg’s 1986 “The Fly“!
Now I’ve been scowering my regular internet rags looking for someone to notice this as well. But to my amazement, I seem to be the only one! Or at least the only one talking about it. So I now present you with exhibit A.
For god sake, he even has the Goldblum hair! I’m hoping it was just a VERY heavy handed homage. But with a series that already has ripped storylines straight for “Incredible X-Men”…you never know.

Besides the questionable theft of Brundle fly, the dual episode did have some pretty incredible visual effects as well. My favorite had to be the speed streak left behind one of the new characters. As well as some good old Tokyo destruction that Hiro narrowly escaped.

After nine months off the air, absence has definitely made the heart grow fonder for deprived fans. The time off has also reinvigorated the creative team, as evidenced by their energetic return to form in the third season premiere, The Second Coming. Creator Tim Kring has shifted to a more aggressive style of storytelling that also carries over to the series’ visual effects.

Awesome post. Hope you can find more “treats” like this.
Thanks Matt, I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out.
