Now what kind of VFX geek would I be if I didn’t post the new ‘Transformers 2′ trailer?
monsters vs aliens
I haven’t heard that much about Dreamworks Animation’s new film, ‘Monsters vs. Aliens‘. But the trailer is really great. So check it out before it invades theaters March 27th, 2009!

a blue tuesday
Well today is the day! ‘Baby Blues‘ is finally released!
And I’m happy to say that today you can find it at…
Blockbuster, Netflix, Best Buy, and of course Amazon.com.

If you’ve followed this blog for a while now, then you’ll have read about the crazy ride this movie has been. Which all started a little over 2 years ago during my senior year at SCAD…

I had just completed work on a short film called, ‘Golden Goodbye‘. Which was a visual effects extravaganza to say the least, and had left me exhausted and with kind of a bad taste in my mouth. So I decided to take a break for a while. It was not even 2 weeks later when I received the script for a little horror flick that would come to be called, ‘Baby Blues‘.
They needed some visual effects done, and I was recommended by a friend whom I worked with on the previous movie. Like I said, I was burned out and extremely busy at the time finishing up school. So I really had no intention of jumping right back into the fire on another movie. But I read the script as I promised my friend I would, and was completely blown away.
I read it all in one night. And after finishing the last page, I got up and went over to my girlfriend Jess to tell her, “We have to do this movie.”
So over the next 6 months we helped make the movie with one of the most talented crews I’ve ever worked with. Long hot nights at the farmhouse in a little town outside of Savannah. And even longer nights spent in front of our computers doing all the effects work for the film. Which seemed to grow larger and larger as the post-production went on.
But it was such a blast looking back on it all, even when we were completely exhausted. And I just have to give a special thanks to two people out there whom I couldn’t have finished the shots without. Jessica Morrison, and John Egli.
Jess for being the matte painting/roto wiz that she is, and who kept my spirits high. And John for being my go to guy, driving the long 10 hours from New Orleans to Savannah, and always making seemingly crappy plates look beautiful at the end. You guys were and are the best, and I can’t thank you enough.
And I can’t say enough about the Directors of the film, Armardeep Kaleka and Lars Jacobson, either. They had such a clear vision for the movie, were so business savvy with raising the financing, and were just so open to everyones ideas that it really made the film special for both the crew and now…the audience.

So go and support ‘Baby Blues‘! Or if you’re living outside of the states, ‘Cradle Will Fall‘! And if you like it, pass it along to your friends and family! But it is rated R, and does have some pretty disturbing stuff in it. So you might not want to give your Grandma a copy. Well maybe you’re Grandma is awesome and she’d love it! But just a fair warning.
It’s currently ranked at #174 on the IMDB movie meter, which is only 173 below ‘The Dark Knight’! So help us get that number up by going out and either buying or renting our film.
I’m personally very proud to be apart of the team that brought this film to life, and I’m so excited to finally be able to share with everyone all the hard work that was put into this film.
So with that…check out the trailer below and then click the link to be taken to Amazon.com to buy your very own copy!!!!

As his once tranquil home is suddenly transformed into an inescapable house of horrors, the brave young boy vows to protect his defenseless siblings from an evil they could never imagine. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
sequels can be good
Now that the summer movie season is officially almost over, and especially ever since ‘The Dark Knight‘ was released, my friends and I at the studio have been asking this very simple question…”What do we have to look forward to now?” Well besides going to see ‘The Dark Knight’ in IMAX.
I almost feel spoiled because so far we’ve had…
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
- Iron Man
- Wall*E
- Hell Boy II
- The Dark Knight
- Speed Racer
The list just goes on and on, and looking back…it was one hell of a summer! But…now what? Well Comic Con 2008 has answered that question. And though I already was excited for ‘Watchmen‘ and ‘Terminator 4‘, I have a new one to add to my list. And so do you.
‘Tron (muthafuckin’) 2′!!! Or just ‘Tron 2‘ in the US.
Here’s the clip that was shown at Friday’s panel…*sorry for the poor quality*
A better quality version will come out any day now I’m sure, but come on! How awesome did that look even in shitty handy cam zooming quality?! I’m so excited.
A professor I had back at SCAD, who’s now at Dreamworks, named Craig Newman worked on the original film. And I always felt like the original never deserved the harsh treatment that it’s gotten over the years.
So it looks like…sequels can sometimes be for the good.
dr horrible
What can I say about the new Joss Whedon web series musical ‘Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog‘, starring NPH and Nathan Fillion? I’m speechless…so enjoy!
